Concrete Grinding are busy in the USA at the moment, working on their first project as CoGri USA Inc.
The floor flatness grinding experts opened up the American arm of the company during the summer of 2015 due to the demand for their services stateside; they’d had a constant flow of work there for 18 months leading up to opening the new office, and their first grinding job under the new name began in the autumn.
Qualitest; of Alabama, needed CoGri USA Inc. because the existing floor flatness at their new site wasn’t suitable for safe and efficient narrow aisle truck operation.
Nine aisles were Profileograph surveyed, and as a result 140 linear meters (approximately 70% of the total aisle length) needed grinding to upgrade the flatness to the Fmin 40 specification. Whole aisle width grinding was required to ‘future proof’ the aisles, so trucks with any wheel format could be used both now and in the future.
“Once we’d got the contract, it was great to get CoGri USA Inc. off the ground with a project that should have taken about a week to complete” said Paul Altham, Technical Services Manager for Concrete Grinding. “But with the site currently under construction, it wasn’t fully water tight – especially when a storm hit the area and we were faced with a flood on site!”
CoGri USA Inc. were due to carry out the work using their patented Laser Grinder®, but as the flood lasted for two days, they had to down their usual tools and wade in to help clear away the water;
“The floor was under inches of water because of the amount of rain, and we needed it to be dry before we could carry on” said Paul. “When things like this happen, our team want to pull out all the stops to start working again as soon as possible and maintain progress. It’s important to do everything we can to meet the completion date, regardless of the obstacles put in our way.”
Work was completed at the end of August as originally agreed, as CoGri USA Inc. based in Georgia, starts proving to America they can make the world a flatter place.
