Two world leaders meet in a country which has had a history of conflict.
But what sounds like a meeting of political interest is, in fact, Concrete Grinding’s latest overseas job, which saw them fly their workforce 3027 miles from Huddersfield to Lebanon to do work for Agility Logistics.
“Agility Logistics is one of the world’s largest integrated logistics providers with more than 20,000 employees and operates in 100 countries” said Paul Altham, Technical Services Manager for Concrete Grinding. “The stature of the firm means that when they need an expert in flooring services, they turn to the best in the business. They turn to Concrete Grinding.”
Agility contacted CoGri Middle East, and asked for a CoGri floor in their distribution centre in Lebanon, which borders Syria. The UK office were appointed to do the work, and although the thought of heading towards this area of the world may strike trepidation in to some, it certainly wasn’t an issue for Concrete Grinding.
“We’re global, and our services are required all over the world. And a company like Agility; with 15 meter high racking and the use of Jungheinrich trucks on site, need someone like us to handle such a technical floor spec, and deliver world class results.” said Mr Altham.
Concrete Grinding’s overseas sister company Face Middle East carried out a profilograph survey over a total of 35 aisles, which allowed them to calculate that only 67% of the total aisle length needed to be ground.
“One of the benefits of the technology that we use at Concrete Grinding means that we only grind the areas that needed grinding, and leave the areas that do not.” Paul added.
1272 linear meters of three wheel track grinding took place throughout the site, and it was ground to a specification of EN15620 DM1.
Paul said: “It’s a long way to travel from Huddersfield, and we sent our patented Laser Grinder® out to Lebanon by sea freight to ensure we delivered the right results. And as usual, our troops who went out there achieved their mission and left behind a floor to be proud of.”
